As the executive producer for Idaho’s KNOW VAPE campaign, I am working for Idaho Public Television to create and expand a comprehensive and collaborative statewide campaign to end Idaho’s youth vaping crisis. The campaign includes:
A documentary, directed by April Frame and called Nic Sick that was broadcast statewide in March 2023. Nic Sick features teens from across the state who talk candidly and with heartbreaking authenticity about their struggles to overcome vape addiction and the myriad health consequences they experience.
An anti-vape video contest for Idaho teens launched in September 2022. More than $10,000 in prizes were awarded to winners in May 2023. The contest and winners was promoted in print, social media and on radio in English and Spanish.
Social media is a critical component to this campaign. Short testimonials, graphics and tips will be shared extensively on Facebook and Instagram targeting youth, parents and educators.
Downloadable and printable resources about the dangers of and common misconceptions about vaping, how to prevent vaping among youth and how to quit vaping will be available at IdahoPTV.org/KNOWVAPE. The resources are aimed at parents, educators and youth.
Idaho standards-based curriculum is provided to educators via the KNOW VAPE website and PBS Learning Media.- The Idaho Collection.
KNOW VAPE campaign was developed in partnership with Idaho’s Health Districts who are utilizing and promoting the campaign throughout the state.

Idaho Public Television had not launched a new original series in decades. When it did, Brainstorm Ink was called upon to provide strategy, funding, branding and video production expertise. Modeled after PBS’s famed American Experience, Idaho Experience highlights the people and events that shape Idaho. The show, launched in social media to attract a younger audience, is in its first season with a three year funding runway from a major Idaho-based philanthropic organization. A short video teasing the show’s content has already garnered awards and special recognition. Follow Idaho Experience on Facebook/IdahoExperience and watch episodes on demand.
Katherine Caroline Wilkins was the daughter of nomadic, fortune-seeking parents who hopscotched across the Western U.S. from one boom town to the next. Her strong mother, a risk-taking father and the freedom of Idaho bred in Ms. Wilkins an unexpected woman: by the time she was 18 years old, she could shoot a gun, mount a pony from the ground, handle a lariat with ease, play Beethoven beautifully and judge the quality of a horse better than her three brothers. She became a media sensation who made her fortune in a male-dominated business, putting herself and Idaho on the map. Everyone in the country knew her as the Horse Queen of Idaho. Friends and family simply called her Kittie. Click here to watch “Taking the Reins” on Idaho Public Television. Brainstorm Ink researched and wrote the segment on Kittie Wilkins and co-produced the show.
I had the privilege of being the communications officer for nearly five years at the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation, a Boise-based philanthropy. The Albertson family cares deeply about Idaho, especially about the quality of public education, and are very strategic about their giving. One pillar of their strategy is awareness. During my tenure, we launched multiple awareness campaigns designed to spark conversation and change. I am proud of the role I played in overseeing the strategy, creation and dissemination of multiple campaigns, publications and brands.
The result? We made education Idaho's top priority.
The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation’s desire in 2017 to launch a Junior Ranger program for 9-12 year olds merged two things Brainstorm Ink loves: kids and Idaho’s State Parks. The booklet challenges kids to learn more about nature and their state parks through a series of discovery, art and game interactions. The 2017 booklet is available at every state park visitor center in Idaho.. With the popularity of the program, a 2018 Junior Ranger Guide is in the works!
Idaho State Parks welcomes millions of visitors each year to its 30 stunning parks across Idaho. The 2018 Welcome Map helps visitors see the depth and breadth of what every state park has to offer in one easy-to-read and alluring map. Brainstorm Ink led the redesign and printing of 100,000 copies of this popular map.
Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation needed an effective way to explain to thought leaders and decision makers just how vital Idaho State Parks are to Idaho citizens and the economy. This printed and digital infographic turned complex data into an eye catching and digestible tool that helps IDPR communicate its importance.

The $10 annual Idaho State Parks Passport program allows Idahoans to enter any state park for free. The program is literally too good to pass up. A print and digital campaign entices citizens to get their Passport at their local DMV and start enjoying everything our parks have to offer.
